My Connection to Japanese Culture
Hello, I’m TOMO.
I am a Japanese language teacher.
I grew up surrounded by shrines and traditional Japanese culture.
Several of my ancestors were seal engravers (tenkoku).
They worked about 100 years ago.
Their works and seals have been preserved in my family.
Because of this, seal engraving has always felt familiar to me.
Growing up in this environment, I became interested in Japanese history and culture.
Today, I enjoy visiting shrines.
Another interest of mine is exploring retro and historic buildings.
I wanted to share the joy of learning Japanese.
I also wanted to introduce the culture behind the language.
That is why I became a Japanese teacher.
Language and culture are closely connected.
Words reflect history, values, and everyday life.
Learning about that background makes Japanese more interesting.
